You’ve felt the pain of homophobia and the fear of being misgendered.

The agony of not feeling accepted and loved by friends, family, and your community based solely on your sexual or gender identity is difficult to overcome.

There are issues you need help resolving, and support won’t come from those who don’t understand. You start to wonder, “Where and how do I fit in, when or should I come out, how do I deal with my family, and is there help available for the daily issue?”

These emotions are all too common in the LGBTQIA+ community. Therapy can help you find answers to the questions that cause you concern continuously.

Our therapy is open to everyone.

Action Counseling is an affirming space for all sexual and gender identities. This act of affirmation means we acknowledge and unconditionally accept the identity of our clients. Period!

Like anyone, members of the LGBTQIA+ community come to therapy to cope with the stress of life, anxiety, depression, grief, couples therapy, and more. While some of these issues may have little to do with their sexual identity, the LGBTQIA+ community faces unique challenges.

We offer a safe environment to tackle daily mental health struggles and explore all things related to your sexual and gender identity. Some of the special needs we address include exploring the complexities and nuances of your sexual or gender identity, the coming out, and the pain surrounding harmful stigma and trauma that may have occurred (including sexual abuse or religious trauma).

Action Counseling recognizes the unique nature of everyone’s journey. There is no single ‘right way’ to be queer. We’re here to help you navigate what it means to be LGBTQIA+ so you can live your most authentic, fulfilling, and joyful life.

Andy Newman became a passionate ally of the LGBTQIA+ community when he was involved in his high school’s “The Laramie Project” production in 2006.

Witnessing the devastating consequences of people not being accepted for who they are has inspired Andy to be an ally and regularly run fundraisers for the Trevor Project, speak out publicly on LGBTQIA+ issues, and make a primary specialty of his therapy, helping the community directly.

You no longer need to worry about who to talk with about the struggles in your life. It is time to begin the journey of healing and creating the boundaries required to move forward in life stronger.
